General comments

Voor de behandeling van vaginale en/of urethrale chlamydia-infecties zijn doxycycline en azitromycine gelijkwaardig aan elkaar. Afhankelijk van de situatie kan in overleg met de patiënt gekozen worden voor een van de twee middelen. 

  1. Doxycycline heeft de voorkeur voor de behandeling van vaginale Chlamydia-infecties waarbij er geen rectale test is afgenomen. 
  2. Bij twijfel aan de therapietrouw, kan azitromycine worden overwogen vanwege de kortere behandelduur. 
  3. Indien veelvuldige zonexpositie tijdens de behandeling wordt voorzien kan azitromycine worden overwogen vanwege fototoxiciteit. 

Om ‘pingponginfecties’ te voorkomen moeten de huidige partners geïnformeerd en getest worden
